Ever heard of this saying that “10% is what happens to you in life and 90% totally depends on how you react to it “.
This is so true because life doesn’t treat us according to the beauty or the sincerity of our faces, but rather on a daily basis, we come face to face with diverse challenges, that if not wisely handled with an understanding, we might find ourselves becoming victims of negative circumstances.
So how does one handle it, when life throws a lemon at them? Simply put, it’s got so much to do with one’s attitude; a positive attitude can make a whole lot of difference in how successful and happy you can be in that negative circumstance.
We’ve got to realize that problems or negative issues come our way, not to pull us down, but that we may through our God-given gifts proffer long and impactful solutions to them.
Oppositions hit us hard without as much as a warning signal, but that is not an excuse in itself to become overly overwhelmed and subdued by them. Yes, being human, we are at first puzzled, thrown a back and almost swayed to believe that this is the end of the road for us, but then, at a second thought, if we are able to pause for a while, we get to look at the challenge in the eye and with a positive attitude, we begin to search inwards and bit by bit begin to find a way around that challenge.
Many of life’s invention we see and enjoy today, were born out of these life-threatening situations.
We’ve had cases of rejection by the society because one was either born deformed or became incapacitated by an unfortunate incident. Rather than cower in, and becoming antagonistic or even choosing suicide as an option, they choose to turn this negative opposition, this seemingly failure into a success story.
Ever heard of Milton Hershey? Well, he is the man who blessed the world with the sweet milk-chocolate treat that we all love. Before launching his own candy business, he had worked for a local candy factory, and when he decided to go out on his own, he failed miserably. In spite of his two more failures, he didn’t give up or quit, but rather perfected the art of making delicious milk-chocolate which we enjoy in the form of”Hershey chocolate”.
There is also the story of Stephen King, the best-selling author of 350 million books and still climbing? His first work was rejected 30 times, but his wife kept making him work at it, and from that inauspicious start “Carrie” was born.
Or was it Kari’s Carr? For her, it was a rare cancer. Carr had to fight her disease head-on with a new nutritional lifestyle, developing a career as a successful author and health coach in the process.
Despite the health challenges from the start, she is now looked to as one of the most knowledged experts on healthy living online today.
So, the bottom line is, when life throws a lemon at you, choose like these great people, not to give in to their misfortune or negative circumstance, but rather turn that “lemon into a lemonade”.
