Tears are considered as a sign of weakness, and they are more prominently considered to be so when men shed them. Thus, a greater proportion of the secular societies end up thinking this to be a fact since majorly we have patriarchal societies.
As against this, if the women are the ones shedding tears in these societies, it is readily accepted under the notion that after all these are women. What else can they do?
In fact, in many societies, if a boy or a man is seen crying whatsoever be the reason many people move up to him and quieten him saying, ‘Are you a woman to cry?’ So, even if a man feels like crying one day, he cannot do so thanks to our societal stigma.
But, I personally believe that crying helps you cleanse from within. After a session of bitter sobbing, you start feeling better within your soul. Probably, this happens because along with the crying, the negativities of the reason for yours being sad also vanish. There are numerous reasons to cry. It may be because you are depressed, you are angry, you have been hurt badly by someone, you miss a near and dear one, some situations have gone out of your control.
What happens during this entire crying period is that you begin crying due to any of the reasons as mentioned above or might be a different relevant reason (this relevancy depends from person to person) and you have the corresponding thoughts about that situation. For example, let us consider someone has made you really angry and that person is a near and dear one, so you are really hurt. When you begin sobbing, you have all the bad curses and ill wishes for the concerned person. And that’s quite obvious because the person has hurt you. Then what happens is as your sobbing proceeds you start thinking of the situation and the proceedings when the above drama took place.
While this crying is going on simultaneously somewhere, you start thinking about what might have made the person say so. You proceed ahead thinking if it was really the person mistake or was your mistake. By the end of this entire sobbing, you either accept to yourselves that it was your mistake or if it was the person mistake, you end up understanding their perspective, or you might even forgive them. And believe me, when all of this is done, you start feeling way better.
Your heart ceases to feel the pain; your head becomes free of all thoughts-negative, full of anger or grudge. So somewhere I believe that instead of shouting, screaming, and fretting, cry for yourselves and feel better. Obviously, this does not mean that you should keep on crying until your eyes swell or you really get depressed. Because then that’s a sign that you need some serious help in your problem.
For the rest of the situations, cry along, and you will feel better.
