Life on earth is that of a mixed experience. Life throws so many things at us, and we often do meet with the good, the bad, and the ugly. And most of these things that life brings our way are the things we least desired to comply with.
In life, each of us is always in a struggle. One is either trying to control what comes his/her way or they’ve already fallen into that which they have no power over. Yet, the one that can be controlled can also slip out of control if no serious care is put towards sustaining the victory gotten over it thus far. Trying to control what happens to you can be so frustrating.
Each individual sure do have a past and looks forward to a future while occupying the present. The past forms our history. Some past experiences are easily overwritten and don’t surface again in the present. But there are others that are so stubborn that they will never depart thereby always remaining in the present. Such experiences will cast doubts over the future. The defeats, failures, disappointments, and regrets in life can quench the soul that earlier was filled with bright hopes and aspirations.
When dreams fail to come to life at the expected hour, it threatens the peace within – especially if the failed dream was a preparation for a glorious future. The future is a day or event beyond our reach. For example, looking forward to adulthood, reading towards graduation, targeting an achievement at age 30, and expecting marriage at age 25. Also, starting a business next year, expecting stocks to appreciate by next week, hoping to secure a job in the next interview, believing that the new pregnancy shall not be lost or that conception will occur this time, etc., all amount to the future.
It is the responsibility of the individual to keep hope alive even when a future fails. Tomorrow is as sure as the dawn. You may not be able to construct the circumstances that ought to characterize the future you desire but never doubt that there’s a future. No matter the disappointments of the previous futures, never doubt the next future. One of the next futures will be yours, your hope at last.
