My economic girl (Part 1)

Economic girl
Views: 76

Oh …! What a day, what a memorable day in our lives. A day spent with you is like a week of constant celebrations. Yesterday’s memories still linger in my heart and probably in your heart too. I was thinking of you throughout the night, and your sweet voice keeps ringing in my heart. Your smile stabilises my heart. That day, the day after Valentine’s day, remains the best day in the world’s book of lovers, for being able to maximise it, and making it a memorable one.
However, after that day of inevitable satisfaction, I couldn’t hide my joy when I entered school, and I met my two wonderful friends. Out of curiosity and happiness, while the lecture was going on, I picked up my cell phone, and I showed them my ‘economic girl’s’ picture. Because of her beauty, my two friends couldn’t hide their compliments, and that led to a distraction in class, and we were sent by the lecturer. Hah… Just imagine what it was like unveiling my ‘economic girl’ to my classmates. I wondered what their reactions would be that day. I guessed the class would explode with laughter and amazement!!!

‘Now, we created unforgettable memories that day, so let’s build our dreams together,’ I thought.

It was on a Wednesday morning; I was sitting in my class waiting for the next lecture. Some of my classmates came in and asked me, “Prof,” as they popularly called me, “who is she? Who is your economic girl, that you are so much in love with?’’

I smiled and said, “Folks, just be patient, I will introduce you to her soon.”

They left hissing and murmuring.

But Mathias Victor said, “This economic girl ba…, the day she is finally revealed, I will….” He couldn’t complete his sentence.

The next time we met I told her, “After all the hurdles and struggles to escape the dangers of heartbreak, which can shift love’s equilibrium to either the right or left. However, my fear of losing you depends on your response to me, and whether you love me or not. It is only you that can clear my doubst because I am in a state of loneliness since you left school for a long vacation.”

She smiled and said, “Really?” in amazement.

“Fear gripped my heart thinking that you had left me for other guys. Now, we are in our final year as students, are those guys still a problem for us? What would our classmates say about us if we fail to maintain stability in love’s equilibrium? Say ‘Yes’ to me. Remember that they are patiently waiting for the day I introduce you to them. I’ve been confronted several times by different people wanting to know who my ‘economic girl’ is. Therefore, for the sake of the trust and love my classmates have for both of us, please don’t betray me,” I said.

We parted……and walked down the KASU market.
