Is Omoyele Sowere the man Nigeria has been waiting for?

Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), in the just concluded Nigeria presidential election was arrested in the early hours of Saturday (August 3, 2019) by the Department of State Services (DSS) of Nigeria. Sowere and some other passionate Nigerians have organised a protest tagged “Revolution Now” scheduled for August 5, 2019, due to the bad governance in Nigeria.

The question that remained unanswered is why the Nigerian government feel threatened by the voice and simple protest organised by Sowere? Ironically, the current president of Nigeria (Muhammadu Buhari) actually held a protest tagged “Occupy Nigeria” in January 2012 against the former president (Goodluck Jonathan), in which Sowere was among the protesters. During this period, no arrest was made by the DSS on any of the protesters before and after the protest. So, why is President Mohammadu Buhari feeling unsecured by a fellow presidential candidate?

Is he the young generation of Nigerian president the country has been waiting for? Or is because he telling the truth and only but the truth?

Looking at the history of the current and past president of Nigeria, the old generation, who were previously in the military, converted themselves into civilians and came back to rule again as president. Is Nigeria just recycling their president? Or are we saying there is no better candidate for this post? If these leaders have been doing a great job to make the economy of the country better, it will have been a different case. Rather, corruption has been the household name in which the president, senators and other politicians have been looting money to foreign countries and building refineries all-around other African countries.

Nigeria, the most populous country in Africa, blessed with various natural resources, is struggling to survive in Africa, while the talented brains are running to developed countries for survival.

Are we in the era of change and is Omoyele Sowere the man Nigeria has been waiting for?
