How to decide the right career option

Many times, it happens that after schooling, students find it extremely difficult to decide which career option should they choose. Seldom it also happens that the student selects a path which is unsuitable for him and till the time he realizes the same it is already too late. Today, I want to share some points which may assist you in discovering the right career choice for yourself.

One of the major drawbacks of the education system is that many times it fails to let the student recognize what he is actually passionate for. The value of grades more than skill and interest develops a mentality in the students to abide by the common safe paths that their elders or other successful people have already walked. They fail to realize that what is right for someone else may not be that good for them. Till the time they understand the same, it is already too late, and then they find themselves trapped.

It is essential that the real passion and interest of the student be determined, to discover the right path. This is not that difficult. With a bit of school’s effort and parental guidance, this is possible. For instance, if a student loves to play, he can be a sportsman, if he has an interest in technology, probably, engineering will suit him more. If saving lives of people fascinates him, he can turn out to be a doctor.

The problem only arises when the actual recognition of the student’s passion cannot be determined due to either parental or peer pressure. After choosing a career path, later on, he realizes that this was not what he wanted.

Many times, it also happens that after reaching a particular place, a student realizes that this is probably not for him. At that very moment, he should break all the barriers and choose what his heart wishes for. At your last breath, the money or status would not be of any use, but there will be just a sigh of regret of becoming a victim of this unworthy rat race. Let not the walls which have been erected by the society cage you.

If you are reading this and are in a dilemma regarding your next step, just sit peacefully for a few minutes, introspect yourself and try to find what your heart wants. It really doesn’t matter from where you start or how many paths to change, but what matters is where you end. The place you end would be the one that your heart always wanted to be.

Take risks, follow your heart and make sure there are no regrets at the end.

Hope it helps!
