How mother nature benefits from a deadly pandemic.

Our world has witnessed endemics, epidemics, and pandemics from the time immemorial. As a result, millions of people have perished. Nevertheless, human existence has continued and it will further continue to exist for centuries to come.
Right at this moment, the entire world is suffering from a deadly outbreak of a virus that was thought to be originated from a market in Wuhan in China, where even live animals were sold. This virus, which is called the COVID 19, was thought to be benign at the time it first appeared due to the fact that the death rate was inconsequential as a percentage although a huge number of people were infected. China, however, having fought valiantly and tirelessly, was able to contain the spread of it to a great extent, probably saving millions of lives.
The same picture is rather dark in other regions of the world, particularly central Europe and the USA. This particular virus has gone out of control in some western countries such as Italy, Spain, and the USA where the world’s best health care systems are believed to be available, killing thousands of people irrespective of their social status and wealth each passing day. How did it go wrong there? A large number of people tend to have a hedonistic approach to life, gallivanting from place to place being gregarious. Did they lose a chance to nip this virus in the bud? yes, they certainly did. Their lackadaisical approach to this, despite the warnings, paved the way for many to bite the dust. Furthermore, a plethora of people was rather reluctant to resort to self-isolation where life is considered spartan.
”Quarantine is the sine qua non if we are to eradicate this hot potato”. A piece of advice given by thousands of medical experts. However, some do not seem to heed as they go about their business as usual. Therefore, the future of all of us may be so bleak and precarious.
The question arises. Is there anything good about such a pandemic? Yes, certainly there are a lot while humans are being incarcerated in their own homes. No vehicles are plying on our roads, emitting noxious emissions. No factories are in operation, releasing effluent contaminating rivers and seas. Nobody is felling trees, contributing to deforestation. Animals have been deprived of their rights for centuries. They are now roaming here and there and frolicking in places that belonged to them before humans invaded them. There is a full stop to intensive and battery farming. People are now pondering about subsistence farming. Mother nature is healing itself and has taught us a pretty good lesson that there’s nothing in this world that doesn’t pay obeisance to it.
