To flourish or thrive is to grow and bloom rigorously and rapidly. Challenges, on the other hand, are situations, tasks, and incidents which prove to be difficult, tedious, and insurmountable. They can also be referred to as “tough times”.
Nature most times can be very unfair as it brings both the good and bad things into existence. As humans, we do not want a life of stress, but most times we find out that challenges on our way are meant to reshape our lives, sharpen our focus, and get us fit.
Many times we are forced to believe the illusion that it is possible to live a life free of all troubles, anxieties, worries, and disappointments. From personal experience, I have proven this to be wrong countless times.
Everyone will meet all kinds of troubles in their life. Some people encounter difficulties at work; some on the way to achieve dreams; some in marriage, etc. Anyway, in order to grow up, we must go through all kinds of ordeals, failures, and troubles. Only those who are indomitable and brave in adversity can enjoy the happiness and bliss of success and successful life in general.
If we don’t experience these adversities and unhappy situations, we will be defeated by the troubles and failures in our life. And at last, we will accomplish nothing. Life is both sweet and bitter, good and bad, rainy, and shiny. If the whole day were to be raining, it means everyone would be cold and no one is gonna gets out and works.
If on the other hand, it were to be shiny all through, it will be excessive which can also be hazardous to health. All these variations are what make life fun and interesting as a whole.
To be able to flourish especially in times of circumstances and challenges requires one to have a shift of focus and mindset. This entails seeing beyond the present and focusing on the future.
Though this can sound unrealistic and impossible at times, however, the ability of one to have a smooth sail and passage through this journey known as life is tied to one’s ability to remain steadfast and courageous.
History is filled with records of people who have faced one challenge or the other and who were able to flourish amidst the challenge. I wouldn’t want to start digging into the archives to cite relevant examples. For the sake of clarity, let me give you a personal example.
Dear Friend, having challenges doesn’t count, it is the ability to paddle and scale through successfully without been swept by the wind that matters. Remember “When the going gets tough, only the tough get going”. Only the victors and successful are crowned at the end of the battle. Shalom!
