Maharishi Patanjali said, when a yogi attains purity due to sadhana then he achieves the spiritual perfection. There are eight levels in yogic sadhana: Yam, Niyam, Aasana, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana, Samadhi. Yogic Sadhana comprises of Yogasanas, Pranayamas, and Dhyan (Meditation). Compared to regular physical exercise, yoga provides benefits for body, mind, and soul. The yogic sadhana guides us towards life with peace and progress in our journey towards the ultimate aim of self-realization.
Alternative system of medicine includes Naturopathy, Ayurveda, acupuncture, homeopathy, herbal and Chinese medicines, chiropractic care, reflexology, therapeutic massage. Besides this hypnosis, art and music therapy improves the mind’s ability to cope with stress. Also, Reiki and Pranic Healing are popular energy therapies. Prayer can also have a calming effect on the body. Laughter therapy also is known to lower cholesterol, diabetes and other heart-related issues. It is known that “laughter is the best medicine.” Alternative system of medicines, if incorporated as a way of life, creates a healthy lifestyle and changes the attitude and brings a positive hope in life.
Nature is the greatest healer and Naturopathy as an alternative system of medicine that treats the body as a whole. There is an unseen force called Prana or the life force which keeps our body healthy. The accumulation of toxins reduces the life force and hence makes the body less resistant towards the disease.
Naturopathy enhances this vital force and hampers the accumulation of toxins/morbid matter in the body; therefore, detoxification and strengthening the life force is the natural way of treatment in Naturopathy. The treatment process of the disease is the elimination of the accumulated morbid matter in the body. The entire body of the patient is treated and renewed.
60-70% treatment in Naturopathy depends upon the diet, and the problems can be managed with diet and lifestyle. Different modalities of Naturopathy are diet therapy, fasting therapy, mud therapy, hydrotherapy, massage therapy, chromotherapy, air therapy (yogic breathing and pranayama) and magnet therapy.
Naturopathy is a drug-less treatment where food is considered the medicine and during the treatment healing crisis takes place, (because of the cleansing process, which acts in eliminating the disease from the system), but due to ignorance many patients gets disappointed and give up Naturopathy. Combining yoga with the alternative method of medicine is the holistic approach to attaining good health.
Though the conventional system of medicine has saved many lives in some cases, they fail to fight the root cause of the problem, and some individuals do not respond well to antibiotics. These are the reasons that people are switching towards alternative medicines and therapies because it works at curing the root cause and also remain cost-effective and pocket-friendly.
