A letter to a philanthropist

What is the point in providing a cure to people suffering from one particular disease? There are many causes, and people are dying every day. You may become a hero in the eyes of a few and see yourself as a great philanthropist—which is good for your image—but regardless of what you think, only saving a few is not for humanitarian reasons. I am completely grateful to you for removing Polio from India. Because of you, I and several others can use our legs and walk. Only now, I have grown up and better understand the world and your work. You may feel like typical Indian parents when they say, ‘my child has grown up’, but I think there are many other things which need to be fixed, such as overpopulation (let’s talk about this one).

If you have money, it is easy to cure some patients, but raising awareness with some people about controlling population growth is a tough task, especially in India. China is more populated than India, but its growth rate is decreasing.

The things happening in India are a consequence of illiteracy, and hence, the overpopulation problem.

Many villagers do not know what birth control and protection are. The ones that do know, find a reason and excuse not to use it. Give the food to the beggars but also ask him to not produce more beggars. I urge you with all due respect if you wanna make this world a better place, have a look at this basic problem and if you can do anything about it. The world will be forever in your debt.
